When did you first conclude that you had a passion for music?

As soon as I could speak, I would attempt to sing. Music has constantly been a huge part of my life.

What artists or experiences have influenced your music?

As a youngster, I listened to Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Donna Summer on repeat! As a teenager, I was influenced by Aaliyah as I was a huge R&B fan as well as being a fan of girl bands. These days I find inspiration from a variety of genres such as Hip Hop, Indie music, punk, ethereal and synth pop. I’d like to say that my music is a mix of styles and is inspired by my personal experiences.

What was it like growing up in Auckland, New Zealand?

To be honest, I was a bit of a tomboy. I’d spend my days playing rugby with my friends before getting dolled up for a dance exam or a music competition. While I lived in Auckland, New Zealand’s most populous city, I grew up on a farm on the outskirts of town. I remember coming of age as a teenager and driving into Auckland city to explore the open mic scene with my friends.

Can you tell us a bit about your EP “Dark Mind”?

“Dark Mind” was inspired by a dark, negative stage of my life. However “Dark Mind” has a positive message that you can take a negative situation and find the beauty or positivity in it.

Do you have a favorite track?

“Hold Me” for personal reasons. However, my most listened to track is “Let it Run”.

Do you suffer from stage fright?

Occasionally, although I get more nervous performing in front of a small intimate crowd, than I do perform in front of a large crowd. If I feel nervous, I just take a deep breath and then use my nervous energy to fuel my performance.

Where do you see yourself in a year’s time?

I hope to be on tour, promoting my album. I want to continue to do what I’m doing but on a larger scale. I also want to continue developing my label “Little Mixtape Records”.

Do you have a message for your fans?

Thank you for listening to my music, I hope that my tracks make you feel something. That’s my ultimate goal, to make people feel something.

With a voice and personality like Janine’s, we have no doubt that Janine’s career will grow from strength to strength! If you haven’t listened to “Dark Mind”, take our advice and listen to straight away as you’ll be blown away by her phenomenal voice!

Am1r: America’s next rising R&B triple threat

am1r-rnb-artist

The United States has built a reputation in the music industry for producing talented, world-class artists. One artist on the rise Amir a singer, songwriter, producer who has recently emerged onto the music scene. Amir has built a dedicated fan base by covering songs on Youtube and by producing his original tracks. Amir has already obtained international acclaim, with his debut album “Reality”, reaching the number 2 spot on Japan’s hotly contested R&B chart.

Why, don’t you introduce yourself to those readers who haven’t had a chance to listen to your tracks?

Hi, I’m am1r a passionate R&B artist and producer. If I had to describe my music, I’d say that it’s a mix of classic 90s R&B and R&B from the early 2000s.

I’ve never met anyone named Amir before, does your name have a special meaning?

According to my parents, it translates to “Prince”. Don’t worry I don’t have a huge ego!

Can speak on some of your musical influences?

Sure, if I were to name all of the artists who I admire we’d be here all day, but my music is influenced by Usher, Craig David, Brian McKnight, 112, Tank and Marques Houston. Regarding my role as a music producer, I’d say that I’m influenced a little by The Underdogs.

Why did you decide to pursue an R&B career?

I love every aspect of R&B music and admire the passion and raw emotion that is evident in the voices of R&B artists. I also appreciate the beautiful melodies and artful chord progressions that feature heavily in R&B music.

Can you tell us a bit about your experience working with American Idol alum Ruben Studdard?

I got in contact with Ruben on a site called Blazetrak. I sent Ruben a couple of my tracks, and I guess Ruben must of heard something that he liked in my voice as he then invited me to Alabama, to work with him on a couple of tracks. Working with an artist who is as naturally talented as Ruben was a dream come true. I can’t believe how much I was able to grow as an artist, just by spending time with Ruben. As a little side note, you may not know this, but Ruben is also a talented Rnb songwriter!

One of your singles “Real Love” has appeared on numerous TV shows including “Footballers’ Wives” and “Washington Heights”, what was it like hearing “Real Love” on TV?

It was a surreal experience, seeing a track which I first recorded in my home, being played on TV!

Do you have any special plans for Valentine’s Day this year?

None that I know of.

Why did you decide to pursue a music career when graduated with a business degree?

In the end, I had to follow my passion. I admit it was a little challenging getting my foot in the door as I had no experience in producing or recording tracks. However, my mother taught me how to play the piano as a child, so I knew that when it came to music, I’d be able to learn new skills in a short period. I started by imitating the work of my favourite RnB producers, although I gradually developed my unique style.

Where do you see yourself in 12 months?

I want to build off my success in 2012 and to introduce my R&B music to new fans around the world.

Do you have anything else that you’d like to add?

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me in my journey so far. Your support is much appreciated. If you’re interested in hearing some of my latest RnB tracks visit http://am1rmusic.com.

Introducing Cravetay, A Young up and Coming RnB Singer

Cravety-Rnb-Singer

At the age of 15, most girls are usually in their sophomore or first year of secondary school. They talk about routine mall trips as they hang out with their friends. It is uncommon for teenagers to have many views and subscribers on YouTube for their music. However, this describes the life of Cravetay; a young upcoming artist. Cravetay, who was born and brought up in Atlanta, is a young future star and is just like any other teenager having an incredible voice and fans filled across the globe. Her latest album ‘IMF’ which is an abbreviation for ‘It’s My Fault,’ has just been released and believe me when I tell you that she is indeed the next big hit. We held a discussion with the upcoming star about her unique name, social life, juggling music and her plans for the future.

Tell us who Cravetay is. What are her Likes and Dislikes? Interests and Pet Peeves?

I am a trendy, self-assured, exciting, down to earth, high achiever and independent person with a passion for music. I am usually prepared for anything that comes my way, and my desire is to sing out to the whole world.

I like shopping, definitely music, seaweed, dogs, assisting people, truthfulness, being inside the car when it rains. I also like such interviews that make me recognize aspects about myself if the other party is, of course, being sincere with me and more so when hard work has to pay off.

I dislike people who are unreal, those who judge people without any justification, deceivers, irresolute, mathematics, negativity and fatigue.

When did you discover that you wanted to pursue music?

It was when I was in 3rd grade that I realized that music is what I would want to pursue forever

Who were/are the people who influenced you in music?

Beyonce, Kehlani, Rihanna, Aaliyah, India irie, Drake and Chris Brown

Cravetay is a name that sounds quite interesting. Why did you think of taking that name?

Most people have always referred to me as the ‘cravetay girl’. Therefore, since then, the name stuck and hence branded my stage name like that. The name is symbolic to loving and embracing oneself regardless of circumstances.

What is next? Do you have any plans for touring?

No, I am not in a hurry, I am still in a studio trying to perfect my art as well as getting ready for the journey that awaits me. Just taking one day at a time; my fans and family will be the first to know when the touring time comes. To me timing is very crucial, am just performing some few shows and slowly building my empire.

During your spare time, what do you like doing?

At my spare time, I like reading, watching movies, sleeping or even shopping.

Is there anything that I have left out that you would want the world to hear about Cravetay?

For giving me their support, I am very grateful. I appreciate very much, and it means the whole world to me to realize that in as much as I do, people listen to my music. For those who are big dreamers like me out there, this is the time to start, and you should never stop. For what you want in life, you have to work hard.
